You can vault off walls to attack, spin off of poles, climb up and over enemies to slash them from above and behind, throw enemies, and even throw your offhand weapon. The Sands of Time, the Prince finds himself constantly hunted by a terrible beast known as the Dahaka. Everything from the visual presentation down to the core gameplay has been adversely affected in the transition from consoles to a portable system. Much of the game is spent staring at the room you're in, trying to figure out how exactly you're going to get from the floor all the way up to a doorway high above you.

Running along walls, jumping between pillars and leaping between cliffs is at the heart of the series. It's so visually impressive and is really hard to put down. Following Warrior Within, a second sequel and a prequel were made, expanding the Sands of Time story. Booting it up takes more than a minute or so, and the first save game you load up takes nearly as long.

Other sand powers are area-effect spells that stun multiple enemies. Hunted mercilessly by Fate's demon forces, the Prince must embark on an impossible odyssey to defy his preordained death. The Prince's repertoire of combat moves has been expanded into varying strings that allow players to attack enemies with more complexity than was possible in the previous game. They did the best job with the camera they possibly could.

And not in a small way, either. Aside from bosses, the enemies are sand creatures of varying sizes. Sadly, puzzle solving takes a back seat to repetitive and tedious button mashing in this less than Princely offering. Not only that, but you're a damn good swordfighter and wall-climber, too. It's just a good game to have on the go.


The closer a portable game, regardless of system, sticks to these laws, the better the game will be. Anyone who is remotely interested in playing an action game on their handset should download it. Surely we aren't the only ones who wound up running around like a retard who just shit his pants. The Prince seeks counsel from an old wise man who explains that whoever releases The Sands of Time must die.

Instead, it's navigating the myriad traps, obstacles, and jumps found in virtually every area in the game. Also, why has this game been out a week and no one has reviewed it yet? People wanting a game to get their teeth into will certainly find it a challenge although many will also be tearing their hair out by the handful. It picks up where The Sands of Time left off, adding new features, specifically, options in combat.
